Death and . . .?

A Tax Poem

At first I thought this was funny... then I realized the awful truth of it.

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax this lass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which 0ne's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me
to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

Remember, they've already gotten the . . .

Not one of these taxes existed a mere 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'

==================================================

MCZWZ Thinks:

I don't blame only the politicians for this indecent growth of taxes in a mere 100 years. We the People are just as responsible and as much to blame as any "politician" ever was.

Our behaving as sheep, our accepting every "promise" given by the politicians we have elected make We the People just as -- or even more -- responsible.

We are even more responsible because we do not fight against the continuous, constant, unending imposition of taxes by the politicians we have elected. We merely accept their actions as we complain and moan and groan under the increasingly difficult load of taxes.

We are just starting to do a great deal of moaning and groaning now that the "majority" has finally started to realize into what debacle their "historic" frenzy has brought this country.

We are all just starting to feel the results of the November 4, 2008 choices of a little over half of We the People in the outrageous, thoughtless, foolish and basically evil spending spree we have seen in just the past two months. The list of taxes above will hardly start to pay the bill being imposed on us by those who "won."

We are already being duped by some of the taxes being imposed on us. . .

Think about it. Take the cigarette tax, for example. We are told by those who claim to know better than we that the tax imposed on a pack of cigarettes will "help" to pay for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). (Remember, we should all want to spend money for yet another program that's proven itself completely ineffective for years -- primarily because those to whom it is geared do not want it!)

BUT, we also told, by the same ones who claim to know better for us than we do ourselves, that smoking is "bad" for us, and we "should not" smoke . . .

Now, the imposition of the outrageous, evil, and disgusting cigarette tax would make one think that this is an immediate club implemented by those who know better than us in order to "make" those of us who do stop smoking, no?

Well, no, not really . . . or, maybe, yes, really . . .

One hesitates to respond definitively because one must wonder: "they" impose an outrageously evil tax on cigarettes to "make" us stop smoking, BUT, the taxes are also supposed to pay for the CHIP (for the poor widdle children, don'tchaknow) -- where is the sense?

Many people will inevitably choose to quit rather than go even more broke paying the evil, outrageous cigarette tax, which, one would think, would lead to defunding the CHIP program -- BUT --

"They" tell us the CHIP program is an imperative, a must, absolutely necessary to "save" the poor, uninsured widdle children!

BUT -- "they" chose to fund it with outrageous, evil taxes imposed on cigarettes, something "they" say one should no longer use.

So . . . do "they" really want to "help" the poor, uninsured widdle children with the evil, outrageous cigarette tax OR do "they" just want to force smokers to finally "change" and do what they've always been trying to do for the past many years -- put the cigarette companies out of business? (Remember, "they" always know better for you than you do yourself!)

If the latter . . . what will "they" do to fund CHIP as smokers stop smoking and the tax base decreases . . . ? Will they suddenly admit that CHIP is unnecessary because it is "too difficult" for the poor to deal with?

OR -- will they just move on to tax something else "they" feel is "bad" for us . . .?

On what will the next outrageous, evil tax be imposed . . . ? Ice Cream -- because it is "bad" for us?

Based on the stated goals of the newly elected administration, an Ice-Cream tax is not in the least far-fetched.

We can only hope and pray to God -- yes, pray to God -- that we survive through 2010!
